Global efforts to reduce hunger, disease, and the impacts of climate change are under severe strain. Deep cuts in development aid are forcing NGOs to make difficult choices just as global needs continue to rise. Only a small share of the UN Sustainable Development Goals remains on track for 2030, while conflicts, climate shocks, and food insecurity intensify worldwide.

In this inaugural lecture, Gromicho will discuss how analytics can strengthen the non-profit sector and how the Analytics for a Better World Chair contributes to that goal by advancing research, developing open-source tools, and expanding educational opportunities to democratize access to data and analytics.
