Announcement: Symposium on Multi-state models in Amsterdam, 17 October 2025
The Decision Modeling Center of Amsterdam University Medical Centers would like to invite you to our upcoming half-day symposium on “Innovation in Multi-state Models: From Theory to Practice“, taking place on 17th October 2025, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at De Veranda Restaurant (Amstelveenseweg 764, 1081 JK, Amsterdam).

To confirm your attendance, please register via the following link on or before 10th October 2025: https://forms.gle/SGz3DuK64PnScPwS7
We are honored to welcome two distinguished speakers:
In addition, Dr. Thomas Klausch will present an overview of our recent work in this field.
Multi-state models are powerful tools for studying the dynamics of disease progression and health interventions, with applications ranging from cancer screening to chronic disease monitoring. While classical models assume known transition times and Markovian progression, real-world data often violate these assumptions. This symposium will showcase new developments, including semi-Markov models and methods to handle interval-censored transition times, combining theoretical advances with practical case studies.
Following a complementary lunch, we warmly invite you to attend the PhD defense of Eddymurphy Akwiwu, titled “Modelling Cancer Surveillance Data”, which will take place in the Aula of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam at 1:45 PM.
We look forward to welcoming you!
