Live Symposium on Transparent Machine Learning

Transparent Machine Learning
A dive into model explainability & ethics

Have you always wondered what is behind an algorithm? What are the risks and challenges of relying on one? And how to explain your machine learning and AI models in a more comprehensible way? Find out all about it and and join us on the 5th of October, 2022.

On the 5th of October between 14:00-18:00 the Statistics Communication and Data Science sections of the VVSOR organize an afternoon filled with talks on Transparent Machine Learning, and stay after 17:00 for the included after-symposium drinks.

Location: Social Impact Factory, op 5 min van Utrecht CS.

With the number of AI, machine learning and deep-learning algorithms growing more than ever, there is also a higher demand on explainability of these methods and a closer look on the ethics surrounding predictions and building of the models.

Abstracts of the talks will follow, but we are proud to announce the following speakers:

  • Dr. Ir. Bas van der Velden

on explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) in deep learning-based medical image analysis

  • Prof. dr. Hinda Haned

on the ethics and application of machine learning models in business

  • Dr. Marjolein Fokkema

on a method for explainable random forests

  • Dr. Tim van Erven

on challenges in explaining the effect of inputs in machine learning models on predictions in practice

Registration will open soon. Registration will be free for VVSOR members. We will provide coffee, snacks, and drinks in the end. If you are not yet a member of the VVSOR, you may sign up as a member here and join the symposium (there are special free student memberships and discounted prices for young and older professionals).
