Post-doctoral research fellowship within the STARS@Unipd GRANT “Bayesian Nonparametrics for complex data”

The Department of Statistical Sciences (www.stat.unipd.it) of the
University of Padova (www.unipd.it) invites applications for a
Post-doctoral research fellowship within the STARS@Unipd GRANT
“Bayesian Nonparametrics for complex data” (bnp4cd.stat.unipd.it)

PROJECT, HOST INSTITUTION, AND PI

The project aims at investigating new approaches and introducing novel
methodologies for modelling high complexity data which arise in many
modern applied contexts by means of Bayesian nonparametric and
semiparametric tools. Concrete examples of the foreseen applications
are given by gene expression studies, brain connectivity studies, and
human fertility studies, among others. The expected methodological
innovations will be tailored to classes of problems rather than
isolated examples, aiming at having an impact on different application
domains with similar data structure. The intertwining between theory
and applications will be the major feature of the project.

The project is based at the Department of Statistical Sciences
(stat.unipd.it) of the University of Padova, one of the Italian oldest
and most renewed universities. The project’s principal investigator is
Antonio Canale.

CONTRACT DETAILS

15 months-year contract, starting on January 1st, 2019. The salary is
competitive with other European Research Universities and greater or
equal to that of an Italian assistant professor. The net income will
depend on several elements including income taxes, local taxes, and
tax exemptions depending on the family structure. Additional funding
for research travels and start-up expenses is provided.
